



William Morris was an outstanding and influential designer. In 1861 William Morris founded his company, Morris & Co an enterprise that would make "All things beautiful" of soft furnishings and furniture, textiles and wallpapers, glass and metal, promoting the value of handcrafted production. "Truth to materials"
In the 35 years from 1861 until his death in 1896 Morris proved himself a genius in the art of pattern design. Originating in the Arts and Crafts movement, popular in the late Victorian era the company's designs have never been more widely appreciated than they are today.
